Washington – Whilst the Obama Administration pushes Congress for a slew of mega-bills including Health Care reform, a Cap Trade bill, and a Green Jobs stimulus bill the solutions to pay for these programs go ignored in Washington. A mounting trillion dollar national debt coupled with the need for further billions of dollars of spending to implement these mega-bills has not been a much liked topic of conversation on Capitol Hill. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has reported that the Central Arctic caribou herd, which occupies summer ranges that include the Prudhoe Bay and Kuparuk oil fields, grew sharply in numbers between 2002 and 2008. Washington – Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska submitted draft text promoting the exploration of Alaska’s Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) and ANWR Coastal Plain areas to a bi-partisan Cap and Trade bill being drafted in the Senate. The Cap and Trade bill authored by Senators Lieberman (D-CT), Kerry (D-MA), and Graham (R-SC) is being touted as a bi-partisan approach to the Cap Trade CO2 regulating climate change issue. Richmond -- On Wednesday Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell signed into law the opening of the Virginia’s 2.9 million acre OCS to oil and gas drilling. Indeed the Governor stated he wanted Virginia to become the energy capital of the east coast. This historic passage, the Governor stated, was a message to Secretary of Interior Salazar that Virginia is “ready to go” on OCS, and that it was now up to the Secretary to proceed.
